God's Family

Like rivulets to a river like a branch into a stream

Love from one to another in God's people should be seen

Like voices in a chorus swelled in perfect harmony

This is what God desires in His people all should see

But sadly all too often we're worn down by too much care

And living like our Saviour is the last thing that we share

And people in uncertainty who doubt the Christian call

See nothing to desire there not one good thing at all

Appealing to their inmost heart where lies their inmost need

Where dwells that little fragile child that quietly does plead

For someone with the answer to the trials that they face

Someone to teach them of the faith that holds to Godly grace

And so they wander hurting building hope on something less

Than heavens home of joy and peace and Jesus' righteousness

Assuming by some little good in this life they might do

They'll find another life beyond to start again brand new

But still among the crippled in this world of want and sin

The crippled minds and broken hearts of lost and selfish men

A never ending circle that repeats eternally

From which we have no earthly hope of ever being free

But those who truly know God as their Father and their Life

Who live each day in thankfulness amidst the worldly strife

Have something more than circles to base all their hope upon

For in the cross of Jesus Christ their faith can see beyond

The tomb that could not hold Him as death could not stop our King

Who by His very words of life created everything

And by His hands that formed us made us one to be like Him

As precious little diamonds set around the perfect Gem

And though we've lost our luster though we're mired in the mud

If we will simply trust His love He'll wipe away the crud

And make of us what we have not the power to be ourselves

His lights of love and purity that live to give themselves

As one great perfect body bound by chords that never fail

His chords of love and service sealed in blood from round the nails

That makes us one as we are cleansed from sin and made to be

A perfect whole reflection of God's mighty family

Exodus 23:20-22; Isaiah 58
