Morning Devotional

The Wine and Bread

He held within His hands the cup of wine for all to see

The wine that represented life from His divinity

The blood that was His precious Gift to wipe away our sins

And cleanse the precious souls of them who find in Him their Friend

He told them they must drink it to be part and one with Him

That by it He might testify His Spirit born in them

As they would bear His gospel to the world that lay outside

When they could comprehend the Price He paid when once He died

He broke the bread the emblem of what He would soon go through

When He would soon be broken on the cross for me and you

To share with us the message that by faith we'd understand

The beating and the brokenness He'd suffered here for man

And then He said to eat it as a testimony too

That in them what He suffered could effect what they would do

As being His disciples they must share the Bread of Life

With all whom they encountered in their rounds of daily strife

For Christ knew they'd be challenged by the devil and his band

To bring to them confusion that they might not understand

The power of the message He had lived for them to see

The message of the Kingdom that can set the sinner free

The Kingdom of His presence when we lay our fears aside

And let His Holy Spirit be our Counselor and Guide

Through every confrontation that the world will bring to us

Who hold aloft the message of the God in Whom we trust

To be to us the Father like none other we have known

Who gives to us provision that His Gospel might be sown

Through lives of His beloved He's ordained that we should be

That none might here deny Him through His grace in us they see

Because we too have cherished how He bled for us that day

The blood seen in that blessed wine that takes our sins away

And feasted on the brokenness that He for us did face

That we like Him might have the strength to live by Godly grace

And when He comes in glory be what He had hoped to see

Reflections of His Image that we saw on Calvary

Through every time we drank the wine and ate the bread He gave

To us that we'd remember what God paid for us to save
