New Years Eve.

Hugh K Henderson

A robin jumps from branch to branch

Climbing to the top of a Hawthorn tree.

I expect that he wants to sing

To celebrate the New Year.

Straight to the top perch

Where he would be heard

Singing out shrill notes loud and clear

That would penetrate the deaf ear.

So clear as the day drew dark

The weather was dry, grey and stark.

A message that was only to be endeared

By someone sitting near.

That someone sitting near was me

That robins song was an epiphany

A song that set my heart free

A song that made me realise God loves me!
