I love it when we are lying in bed
My arm clings around you
I smell your hair
I kiss your forehead.
Both snuggling in
Under the bed clothes
Everything is left unsaid.
I put my hand
Upon your waist
Caring for you
Both know the touch of grace.
My loving is full
Lying beside you
There are no rules.
There is a lot going on inside our heads
But as we climb into bed
Sinking into the foam mattress
Protected by the duvet
We pull the clothes over whatever we dread.
We pray together to the same God
Both have a faith to keep before we go to sleep.
